About

Native Californian Loren Philip is an abstract expressionist painter with studios in Chinatown and West Los Angeles. His work explores the limits of the painted surface through an aggressive process of layering and excavation. The paintings express recurring themes of psychophysical topography, memory and the social mythos of Los Angeles and Southern California.

On November 9, 2018 “Year One” a monumental year long collaboration between Loren and Japan’s Tomoaki Shibata opens to the public at Castelli Art Space in Los Angeles. A portion of proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

Loren’s work has been exhibited at The Torrance Art Museum , The Skirball Cultural Center and numerous private galleries throughout Los Angeles.

In 2017 Loren had his first solo exhibition at the Mid-City Arthouse in Culver City.
